Welcome to the Gallery of Painting Series.

Silence stands at the center of my current practice, and is where this journey begins. Dandelion and Silvergrass continue alongside it, each rooted in specific encounters with Taiwan's landscape, from Teapot Mountain to Yangmingshan.

Beyond these, this collection also traces the full arc of my creative evolution, presenting earlier series in the order they were created, from my years in Brazil through my transition to Taipei.

Silence is the current center of my practice. Each work is an exercise in restraint, painted on raw linen with acrylic, where negative space carries as much meaning as the mark itself. This series represents where my visual language stands today, and where it continues to grow.

寂靜系列是我目前創作的核心。每一件作品都是一次克制的練習，以壓克力顏料繪於原色亞麻布上，留白與筆觸同樣承載著意義。這個系列代表著我此刻視覺語言所在之處，也是它持續成長的方向。

在這個充斥噪音與碎片化資訊的時代，《寂靜》系列是一份刻意的邀請，邀請觀者停下腳步。當專注加深，我們開始看見形體之外的存在，一種環繞萬物生靈的氣場，無聲卻真實，唯有在靜觀之中才得以顯現。此系列剝去一切多餘，讓主體的本質自然浮現，不是看見物，而是感受其中棲居的精神。

Silence Series

In a world saturated with noise, the Silence Series is a deliberate invitation to pause. As attention deepens, we begin to perceive beyond physical form, an aura that envelops every living being, always present, only visible through the act of stillness.

This series strips away the unnecessary so that essence may emerge, not the object seen, but the spirit perceived within it.

These series remain active alongside Silence, each rooted in specific encounters with Taiwan's landscape and symbolism. My relationship with silvergrass began three years ago at Teapot Mountain, and deepened last autumn at Yangmingshan. Dandelion and Silvergrass continue to develop as part of my ongoing dialogue with this place I now call home.

這些系列與寂靜系列並行發展，各自根植於我與台灣風景及其象徵意涵的具體相遇。我與芒草的緣分始於三年前的茶壺山，並在去年秋天於陽明山更加深化。蒲公英與芒草持續發展，成為我與這片我如今稱之為家的土地之間，持續進行對話的一部分。

自抵達台灣以來，我深受這片土地在風景、文化與歷史中所懷有的集體力量與驕傲所感動，那份希望與韌性交融的精神，讓我深感有幸能夠見證。蒲公英系列是獻給臺灣蒲公英的致敬，這朵花如同這個國家一般，兼具細膩的美麗與在逆境中靜靜生長的力量。

我選擇蒲公英作為象徵，因為它是一朵在艱困土壤中依然茁壯生長的花，提醒著我們，也能同樣堅強，繼續向前邁進。在此，每一件作品都是一則關於生存與成長的獨特敘事，映照著我們在生命循環中所經歷的種種境遇。

Dandelion Series

Since arriving in Taiwan, I have been moved by the collective strength and pride this land holds for its landscapes, culture, and history, a blend of hope and resilience I feel fortunate to witness. The Dandelion series is a tribute to the Formosan Dandelion, a flower that, much like this country, holds delicate beauty alongside the quiet power to thrive against all odds.

I chose the dandelion for its symbolism, a flower that thrives in difficult soil, reminding us that we too can remain strong and keep moving forward. Each work stands as its own narrative of survival and growth, reflecting the situations we encounter throughout the cycles of life.

靈感來自台灣美麗的芒草。

此系列試圖捕捉芒草的精神，而非其外形。每一筆觸皆源於感受，而非觀察，邀請觀者在草葉的律動中，辨認出自身情感的輪廓。

Silvergrass Series

Inspired by the beautiful silver grass in Taiwan

This series does not seek to capture the silver grass as it appears, but as it feels. Each brushstroke follows sensation rather than observation, inviting the viewer to recognize, within the movement of the grass, the contours of their own inner life.

Free Brushstroke

Each of these works bellow carries its own story. They don't belong to a series, they are a continuous expression of the artist's free brushstroke.

This archive gathers earlier bodies of work that shaped my current visual language. They document a period of exploration, from my early years in Brazil through my transition to Taipei, and remain part of the foundation from which Silence and my present practice emerged.

Cherry Blossoms Series

Inspired by the Cherry Blossom, the artist reflects on his surroundings and the people who shape his life. Guided by meaningful words shared by family and close friends, the painting begins to take form. Each brushstroke carries vitality, emotion, and purpose—created in a single movement that cannot be reversed, much like life itself. Strong, steady lines build the trunks and branches in dark ink, while the warm orange‑red blossoms bring a sense of growth and spirit. Are these flowers symbols of the life flowing within us? Are the branches part of one tree, or many connected together?

Porcelain Series

This project grew from an invitation by ceramist Camille Chungunco to connect with Matheus’ work. Her refined porcelain brings a natural harmony to the collaboration.

Essential Series

What is essential for your life?

In Tandem Series

The In Tandem Series has a plural character, blending elements of paper and porcelain. It plays with imagination. Through abstract lines, it expresses the importance of being together. Life springs from the other—this other who challenges us, uplifts us, and walks beside us. In a solitary world, this series calls for togetherness. It can be a mother and child, friends, partners—anyone by our side pushing us to become better. Our existence continues through the other.

Garden Series

Garden Series follows the journey of human growth. Its long artworks tell the story of a life or a moment, revealing the experiences many of us share.

Shadows Series

These artworks present hummingbirds in a fresh way, revealed only through their silhouettes.

Take Flight Series

This series explores the idea of freedom: the chance to spread your wings, choose your path, and grow in your own time — whether you’re soaring forward or pausing to breathe.

Echoed Thoughts Series

This series began during a meditation retreat. Working on aged Fabriano papers, the artist captured the surrounding nature and his gentle reflections on life.

Metamorphosis Series

Transmutation. The Chinese character Huà 化 reflects the idea of change and transformation. Add the grass radical, and it becomes Huā 花—flower, blossom, bloom. To the artist, the butterfly and the flower merge and separate in a constant flow, a symbol of spirit moving and becoming.

Colorboom Series

This series marks the artist’s first body of work. The hummingbird is a creature Matheus feels deeply connected to, bringing him moments of joy and a sense of meaningful messages each time one appears. These artworks capture the instant when the hummingbird meets the flower, creating a burst of feeling that cannot be explained—only experienced. It reflects the idea that when you are aligned with your true purpose, rare and beautiful moments unfold.
